Regenia is the Principal and Founder of the Bailey Leadership Initiative.
For the past thirteen years, she has worked with organizations from all sectors on strategic positioning and organizational growth and development. By working with organizations on strategic and business planning, capacity building, and advocacy activities, she helps develop strong, innovative, and sustainable organizations and leaders that strengthen their communities.
In addition to her professional work, Regenia has served in the public sector. She is the former Mayor of Iowa City and served two terms on the Iowa City City Council. During her time as Mayor, Iowa City experienced the Flood of 2008 and began its recovery. She also spent two terms, and served as chair, on the statewide Vision Iowa board. While on the Vision Iowa board, the board reviewed over 150 funding applications requesting over $114 million in funding. Of these requests, the Vision Iowa board awarded just over $91 million in funding and supported over a half a billion dollars in capital projects in 73 Iowa counties.
Regenia has taught business courses as an adjunct faculty member at Kirkwood Community College. She has an MBA from The University of Iowa and additional training from BoardSource, ToP Methods in Facilitation and Strategic Planning, and the National Economic Gardening Institute. Regenia writes a monthly column about nonprofit boards for the Corridor Business Journal.
